Habits That Change And Stay The Same When Going Natural

Habits That Change And Stay The Same When Going Natural
Many people would ask, "What is the difference between relaxed and natural hair?" Others would follow up with, "What exactly do you do different now that you have natural hair?" And then the ultimate follow up question, "Do you do anything the same now that you have your natural hair as when you had your relaxed hair?"

Sometimes when I'm put right on the spot, I don't know what to say except, "My products are different and how I care for my hair are different..." Yea -_- #staleface...this response would not register to those who are relaxed or who are even transitioning...they truly want to understand!

Cornrow/Flat Braid With Weave
Now that the cold and brisk months are here, it is definitely time to get your hair put away by: buns, two strand twists, sew-ins, or styles with extensions. It is so important to wear protective styles to tuck your hair away during the cold months because:

1). It helps to retain growth
2). It is low maintenance
3). It gives you a break from doing your own hair

So what we have here today is one of the most simplest styles to do with either your own hair or with hair extensions: Cornrows - simple, easy, and doesn't take up your day to style.

How To | Flat Iron Natural Hair Safely

How To | Flat Iron Natural Hair Safely

It's that time again!

Time to get my hair flat ironed and to see where my hair is at. I only get my hair straightened twice a year, which is absolutely great for me and my natural. I really don't like straight hair on myself, to be honest. But I thought I would change it up a bit! Sooooo, I'm very excited about this because I get to:

  1. Do a different style from the curly and kinky ones I would do,
  2. See where my hair is at length wise,
  3. Just get it done because my own flat ironing skills suck!
That's right! I'm getting my kinks and blinks flat ironed by a professional who knows how to straighten natural hair correctly without heat damage. Heat can be damaging to your kinky and curly tresses, if you don't know what you are doing. So it's best to prepare and know how to flat iron your hair without any harm or damage to your hair. So I'll let you in on a few tips and tricks to flat iron natural hair!

Don’t Use That Gunky Brush! Tips For Cleaning Your Hair Tools

Don't Use That Gunky Brush! Tips For Cleaning Your Hair Tools
Sooooo you just gonna brush your hair with that greasy Denman? Don't you see your flexirods have curly hair stuck to it?? I know you trying to be cute...but your flat iron has sticky brown crap on the side of it!!!

Well, I'm really talking to myself, but I know I'm not the only one who uses un-clean hair tools. I'm not embarrassed (but I should be ashamed of myself smh). Sometimes I do go ahead and detangle my hair with my hairy Denman or I set my hair with clips that have product build up on them. I know DISGUSTING! But hey, I'm not here to judge...I'm here to get on your butt to clean your hair tools!!!

C'mon now! What's the point of pampering your tresses by cleaning and deep conditioning if you are just gonna use your dirty hair tools to do your hair? There's really no point at all...look at that! There is your motivation to clean your stuff.

Hair Tips | "My Hair Wont Grow!" And Other Wacky Hair Myths

"My Hair Wont Grow!" And Other Wacky Hair Myths
I'm sorry...you said what?!?!?!?!?!

I don't know what people are telling you on the streets, at the stores, and even at your jobs, but some of these hair myths are pretty funny, amusing to hear, and just plain wacky! I mean, are you really gonna tell me that my hair doesn't grow because I have black hair...check out my pictures! Bamboozle your noodle!!!

Old wives tales and Grandma's words are not always true...I mean, respect your elders, but don't let them determine your hair regimen, your hair growth, and the way you see and love your own hair. I'm just saying...I was really feeling this one...

Check out a few of these myths I just had to post...I'm mean...are you serious?!?!

Healthy Hair Ingredient | Going Green With Flaxseed Gel

Flaxseed Gel For Natural Hair
Thanks to the inspirations of Naptural 85, UrbanBushBabes, and NapturallyCurly I am making my loves: DIY products. Just like Prince Akeem from Coming To AmericaAll I need are my juices and berries.

So what I am going to do is create "The Kitchenista Series" filled with inspirations and recipes from others who have done them before me and adjust them to make my own. The great thing about DIY for me is that natural and organic ingredients work better on my hair, which I found out a year ago. So I'm just enhancing my stash. I will also do a style with the products I have created and show a comparison style using commercial products.

So let's get started!

So What About This Flaxseed Gel?
