|Confessing My Own Thoughts | The No-Heat Challenge|
See this is why I am afraid to use flat irons and blow dryers on my precious coils. "Trying something different" has been the culprit of many naturals, especially newbie naturalistas, if you don't know what you are doing.
I wanted to get my hair flat ironed for a wedding I was in a few months ago...and now I am experiencing heat damage on my bangs. I do remember my hair stylist spending more time on my bangs than the rest of my hair, but I didn't think all hair would be damaged even with the extensive protein treatment and other preventive measures.
*sigh* this is so frustrating...

|Comparing Hair Growth 2013 And 2014|
I cannot even express to you how excited I am about my hair growth from 2013 to 2014!!! I am so serious when I say that I have NEVER GOTTEN PAST SHOULDER LENGTH HAIR! And all it took was just: TLC, patience, time, and effort. I realized that with health comes length.
So I did a lot more protective styles: Crochet Braids, Senegalese twists, Mini Twists, Buns, and Flat twists. I even cut down so many products and started creating my own products with juices and oils.
Check out the comparison pictures of the end of 2013 and the end of 2014. Black hair does grow!

|100 Years of Beauty: Black Hairstyles In A Minute|
I absolutely love this video because it gives so much insight on how much we value our hair and what we portrayed to others. Black hair is very versatile and this video shows those trends through out the past 100 years. You get the Josephine Baker cropped hair and pinned curls, Billie Holiday's classic gardenias updo, Diana Ross's bouffant, the Poetic Justice box braids of Janet Jackson, Alicia Keyes' braided Afro, and more. This video shows all the hottest and most chic styles of Black hair (I think there are way more).

|CurlKit Unboxing | January 2015|
Well, this is bitter-sweet for me. This is the last CurlKit I will receive...yes, I am unsubscribing to CurlKit from receiving a kit every month. What's really interesting is that I'm really sad about it because I love the products that I received to try, give away, or review. I really liked the fact that I support CurlKit as a business...however, all good things must come to an end.
I have my staple products and regimen set for this year of 2015 for healthy hair and growth. I just feel that it is time to stop receiving products from Curl Kit.
Well, let's get to the unboxing of CurlKit of January 2015!

I have already discussed some hair practices in an earlier article that we do that others are like, "Soooo you shouldn't use that...use this instead." I mean really? That can be so irritating and very frustrating when I am trying to learn my own hair by doing trial and error and you try to save me with your 'education' and 'wisdom.' Seriously, going natural an overwhelming experience and already being natural with staple products makes the experience as simple as possible...so why add more stress?
Well, here are a few more hair practice we tend to do that everyone else says are 'bad for us.' Check out the article!

|Coconut Oil For Hair Growth And Softness|
I LOVE COCONUT OIL!!!!!
Not only do I use coconut oil for cooking (substitute the butter and other cooking oils) and for my skin, but I love using coconut oil for my hair. I believe coconut oil was the first oil I started using for my healthy hair journey, when I first went natural (along with Olive oil). I ditched olive oil for castor oil, but I don't think my hair can live without coconut oil.
I love my commercials products, but nothing beats the benefits of coconut oil. I've also read up on the secrets of long hair of Indian women...and coconut oil is the main product they use!!! So hey, why not use this for my own healthy hair journey. There are just too many pros to not get or at least try coconut oil:
What are the benefits?

We get that we shouldn’t use certain products to care for our hair or we don’t need to do certain things to our hair for it to remain healthy. Anything else you want to tell me? No? Good!
One curlfriend will love shampoo and the other will exclusively co wash. One kinky gal will only air dry and the other will use a t-shirt to dry her hair, then blow dry the rest. At the end of the day do your research to find the best hair practices for you.

|Natural Beauty In My Life | Rachel And The Curl She Lives|
I am proud to say that this Natural Beauty In My Life is definitely a naturalista and embodies the love of her own hair. Having 3a /curly hair and being mixed with Hawaiian, Mexican, and Japanese, I have always loved her hair! Not envious or jealous in any way, I just loved the fact that she embraces her own natural curls and twirls..
Ms. Rachel, who is my future sister-in-law, is so laid back that when I said, "Hey! I want to give you a hair interview!" She said, "Cool. When?" Well, here she is:

My 2015 Goals For My Natural Hair Journey
|Castor Oil For Growth|
Use castor oil religiouslyI will definitely keep up with massaging my scalp at least 4 times a week with castor oil, which is my favorite oil to use. I will love to try castor oil in my deep conditioner for more conditioning benefits. I can keep up with this goal.
Throw out my Denman and wide tooth comb...finger detangle only
