100 Years of Beauty: Black Hairstyles In A Minute

I can't even describe how much I love this!

100 Years of Beauty: Black Hairstyles In A Minute

I saw this video on Facebook and was so excited to see a black woman getting all DONE UP in a time lapse of getting her hair and makeup done of every decade from 1910 to 2010. This video was uploaded 1/15/15 by Cut Video. and already has over 1 million views, which is just about reaching 2 million!

I absolutely love this video because it gives so much insight on how much we value our hair and what we portrayed to others. Black hair is very versatile and this video shows those trends through out the past 100 years. You get the Josephine Baker cropped hair and pinned curls, Billie Holiday's classic gardenias updo, Diana Ross's bouffant, the Poetic Justice box braids of Janet Jackson, Alicia Keyes' braided Afro, and more. This video shows all the hottest and most chic styles of Black hair (I think there are way more).

Black women have always considered hair as the crowing glory, the precious jewel, and the gift God gave to us. Whether we are rocking flowers, long extensions, or being on point with the natural coils and kinks, this video really made the styles of Black Hair of the last 100 years portray beauty, poise, and fun! I feel Black Hair needs an entire movie than a minute...but I won't be greedy.

I absolutely love all the styles, but you know I'm ALL ABOUT THAT FRO of the 70's!
