Healthy Hair Ingredient | Coconut Milk And The Rich Benefits For Natural Hair

Coconut Milk And The Rich Benefits For Natural Hair
Ha! Third time is a charm!!

So now that I have tried the garlic treatment and the black tea treatment, which my hair and I did not like, I will move on to using coconut milk to help with the excessive shedding. I did more research on what can stop the excessive shedding and to continue on my healthy hair journey, and I cam across a bunch of Indian women with nothing but long and healthy hair. And I thought, "of course!"

I did an article on the benefits of using coconut oil a few months ago and saw Indian women doing using coconut oil too. But it looks like coconut milk has great benefits as well!

What are the benefits of coconut milk?

Coconut milk contains vitamin E for awesome hair advantages and promotes hair growth. It makes the hair soft and supple, while healing scalp issues. Coconut milk reduces premature hair graying and is an awesome deep conditioner to add extra moisture to the hair shaft.

WHO WANTS THOSE BENEFITS??? I DO! I DO!!!

My experience

I saw one recipe I wanted to try as a pre poo conditioning treatment. I got this from Hairscapades:

1/4 cup coconut milk (I used Goya)
2 tbsp. honey
use 1 tbsp. of 3 different types of oil
1 tbsp. JBCO
1 tbsp. extra virgin oil
1 tbsp. glycerin (not an oil, but still conditions)

I mixed all the ingredients together and heated the mixture in the microwave for 30 seconds. The mixture was nice and warm. Now I did add a bit of Trader Joe's Tea Tree Tingle Conditioner in my mix because it was so watery...I wanted to thicken it up a bit.

I massaged my scalp with the mixture first for about 5 minutes, then I added the rest of the mixture to my dry hair while focusing on the ends thoroughly.

Once the mixture was in my hair, I put on a plastic cap, my silk scarf, and my satin bonnet. You may need a towel just in case the mixture seeps out. I slept with the mixture on my hair overnight as a pre poo.

I rinsed the mixture out with warm water only. Then once the water ran clear, I co washed with Trader Joe's Tea Tree Tingle and deep conditioned with green tea and Shea Moisture Yucca Masque.

I did not use all the milk in the can...I froze it in an ice cube tray, then put the frozen milk in a sandwich bag for future use! OH YEA!!

My thoughts

Let me just say...is someone playing a trick on me? Where have I been this whole time that coconut milk was a "thing?" COCONUT MILK IS AWESOME!

I'm just saying that during my washing session last week, I had enough hair on the shower wall that could make a wig for another person. But when I did the pre poo, co wash, and deep conditioner I had about 4 PIECES OF SHED HAIR! Not kidding!

My hair felt so thick, soft, and just strong. My mane did not feel limp at all, like I have been experiencing since the end of December. I just love the feeling of my hair that I may contract Hand In Hair Syndrome (HIHS)!

Wow, coconut milk has really done something awesome for my hair and I thank Hairscapades and all the Indian women I watched on YouTube. Even though I used coconut milk as my pre poo, I may nix my commercial deep conditioner and use it for my masque as well. I absolutely love coconut milk!
