FreeTress Water Wave

Now I would consider this my first time doing crochet braids on myself, because using the Marley doesn't count to me...I am so happy about this!

Yay for my first time!!!

Crochet Braids | LOME Marley Braid Hair

Crochet Braids LOME Marley Braid Hair
Marley...Check...Installation....Check...Satisfied...

...NO MA'AM!!!

I am so disappointed, not in myself...but this hair! I'm not mad about the money or the time spent either. I really wanted this to work because I love Marley hair...but this just did not agree with me at all.

I studied all the YouTube videos and the blogs/websites that I could, but I guess I did not get my BA in YouTubology and minor in Crochet Braiding this time around. My fav crochet tutorials I stalked were:

So with all of my studying, writing down notes, and creating a fool-proof-crochet-braiding regimen taped on my mirror, I thought I had everything down. It took me about 5 hours to complete everything.

Here is how I did my crochet braids:

My Hair Diary | My Twist Out Is A H.A.M

My Twist Out Is A H.A.M
Scenario: Your hair is freshly washed and deeply conditioned. You have added your leave-in and massaged it throughout your luscious tresses. The tools you get are your wide tooth comb and your style product. You finally sit at your workspace and get your hair prepped and ready for your beautiful twist out. I mean, you are really feeling yourself right now...it's morning: your hair is not dry OR the top is too bulky while the bottom looks stringy OR your twist out is just not cooperating OR ALL 3 IN ONE!

So I claim the bunny puff as: My Emergency Style.

"How do you accomplish that look?" Well, I'm glad you've asked. It's pretty simple:

My Hair Diary | My Natural Hair Confessions #1

Natural Hair Confessions

Here are my natural hair confessions:

I can lose 50 new bobby pins in a week!

I have done hair since I was 12. I have 3 sisters and learned how to do and care for hair effectively by using them as my guinea pigs. I didn't start braiding and using extensions/weave until I was 15.

Natural Hair Tutorial | Faux Tapered Cut On Natural Hair

Faux Tapered Cut On Natural Hair
I absolutely love tapered cuts...but I'm not going to cut my hair anytime soon...so I'll go with the flat twists updo!

This style is chic, elegant, and professional; I wear up-do flat twists on dates with my hubby, to the park with my son, and at my government job. This style is definitely a conversation starter and I don't mind letting everyone know that, "Yes, I do my own hair!"

My Hair Diary | The Wash N Go Is Not For Me

Wash N Go For Fine, Natural Hair

Grrr! I'm just gonna love this style at a distance. I just can't seem to achieve it!

No matter what I use, how I try the style, or what processes I look up for this style, my hair just does not like the Wash 'N Go. I looked up so many helpful tutorials that I thought would work...but no! Nada! Zilch! Hakuna! Aucun! Nicht! Nie! Nope! Nil!! NOTHING!!!...I need a minute

Hair Tips | My Hair Wont Grow! Huh? 9 Tips To Help You

Winter 2012 - Transitioning To Natural

Are you really thinking that your hair won't grow? I mean, absolutely-positively-your-hair-sucks-won't grow??? Awe...get out of here with those negative and sad thoughts! Of course your hair grows; hair grows all the time.

NOW the real question is...are you retaining the growth? Think about it...if you say that your hair is not growing or you don't have the "type" of hair that grows, check what you are doing for your hair daily, weekly, and monthly.

Now, in no way am I an expert or the ultimate hair guru of all time (I'm working on it, give me a few years); however, I have kept my hair diary since July 2011 and the pictures don't lie. I also have family, friends, and church folk who talk, complain about, cry over, need help with, and talk to me about what? HAIR! So I'm using my pictures and their own declarations; this is all from experience.

I will give you 9 reasons that will cause you to not be able to retain your hair growth, not "your hair won't grow":

Doing Her Hair Series! | FreeTress Bohemian Bulk

FreeTress Bohemian Bulk
I have finally done my first installed of CROCHET BRAIDS!

First off, you may not know what crochet braiding is...to create crochet braids a latch-hook crochet needle is used to weave in synthetic/human hair to the natural hair that has been braided into a braided cornrow pattern. Any type of hair can be used: kanekalon, Marley, curly, or wavy. This style takes about 2-4 hours to do and can stay from a month to two months, depending on the style given.

So back to me...I have finally done it! I researched about crochet braids for a long while, like since I found out. What was perfect about the timing is that my sister, LeAnne, was heading back to Hanover College for her sophomore year (Yay LeAnne!) so I thought this style would be perfect for her - low maintenance and just "shake and go."

Thank You For Stopping By!
