Coconut Oil For Hair Growth And Softness |
I LOVE COCONUT OIL!!!!!
Not only do I use coconut oil for cooking (substitute the butter and other cooking oils) and for my skin, but I love using coconut oil for my hair. I believe coconut oil was the first oil I started using for my healthy hair journey, when I first went natural (along with Olive oil). I ditched olive oil for castor oil, but I don't think my hair can live without coconut oil.
I love my commercials products, but nothing beats the benefits of coconut oil. I've also read up on the secrets of long hair of Indian women...and coconut oil is the main product they use!!! So hey, why not use this for my own healthy hair journey. There are just too many pros to not get or at least try coconut oil:
What are the benefits?
- Stimulates hair growth by massaging scalp
- Fights against dandruff and flakes from dryness
- Moisturizes and seals dry hair
- Adds shine and softness to the hair
- Prevents hair breakage and split ends
- CHEAP!!!
How do I use coconut oil?
Hot Oil TreatmentDo a hot oil treatment before washing your hair to make your hair smooth and shiny. This will help your hair to remain moisturized when using your shampoo. Do weekly to once a month.
Dandruff and flakes!!!! Apply coconut oil right on your scalp and let it sit for 15-20 minutes. Then use your shampoo to wash your hair and the coconut oil out. No more flakes!
If you are experiencing dryness, use coconut oil as your deep conditioner. You can completely wash out after the treatment or rinse out with some oil left.
If you are having trouble with detangling after cleansing your hair, use coconut oil to help with the process. Add coconut oil to your wet or damp hair and use your fingers to get those kinks and blinks out.
Rub coconut along your hair strands and on the ends to seal in the moisture and to fight frizzy ends. This will create a protective barrier on your hair.
For wet roller sets, use coconut oil only or over your foam wrap to create a soft, light hold. Your wet set will look silky and just define!
You don't need to purchase the most expensive coconut oil that makes you crap gold and you will sprout wings...no ma'am. Just purchase an organic coconut oil from Trader Joes or Kroger. It usually takes me 3 months to get through one jar of coconut oil...and that's with cooking, hair, skin, and baby uses. So you will definitely get a great use out of it!
