How To | Tuck And Roll Natural Hair

It's finally Spring Time!

I followed my own advice of how to get through the brisk winter that just seemed like it was never going to end. So I had to come up with a style that would work just for me, my lifestyle, be baby-proof, and did not take 56 products to achieve.

Tuck And Roll Natural Hair

I came across Ms. Vaughn's style for the fall and absolutely fell in love with the style! It is so chic, sophisticated, and simple. Seriously, I've been doing this same style since December (unless it was mini twists or crochet braids). I absolutely love this style! It is so simple and fast to do.

5 Hair Care Books That Should Be On Your Book Shelf Now
Time to head to the library!

Along with my adventure and romance novels, of course I am going to pick up a hair care book to reference about my natural hair. I could go to the internet and look up the information I need, but I like to just sit down and enjoy a good book about curly, coily, and kinky hair care.

We have become a microwave society, meaning we want everything fast, right now, and in a hurry. In terms of hair care, we want our hair to grow now, be thick now, and be healthy now.

In the natural hair community, we tend to call our hair crushes “the natural hair guru.” But what is a guru? According to a regular dictionary, a guru is a person who advises, counsels, and mentors on a specific subject that he/she is mastered in.

The guru has “know it all” in his/her field of study, expertise, and research. So when you hear your friend say, “OMG! You have to check her out. She is a natural hair guru!” Her favorite naturalista “knows” everything there is to know about natural hair…that’s what I am referring to.

Hair Tips | African Threading For Heatless Blow Out

African Threading For Hair Growth And Retention

I love blow outs and always have, just to try something different than my shrinkage...but I despise heat, especially since my hair strands are so thin and fine. So I looked up ways to achieve elongated hair from two strand twists to banding. I found African Threading or 'Nwele' (which means 'hair' in Swahili) originated in African for a safe way to stretch hair for wearing and styling. Sewing or weaving thread is used to stretch tightly coiled hair to its maximum length.

Let's Get To It!

Hair Tips | Is Co Washing For You?

Hair Tips | Is Co Washing For You?
When you start to care for your hair and do lots of hair care research, you will learn a lot about different regimens and care treatments that may work for you better than what you thought. I surely thought this about co washing...

What is co washing?

First of all co washing (short for 'conditioner washing') is using your favorite conditioner instead of a shampoo to cleanse your scalp and hair. This method talks more in depth in Curly Girl: The Handbook (Expanded Second Edition) by Lorraine Massey.

Healthy Hair Ingredient | Coconut Milk And The Rich Benefits For Natural Hair

Coconut Milk And The Rich Benefits For Natural Hair
Ha! Third time is a charm!!

So now that I have tried the garlic treatment and the black tea treatment, which my hair and I did not like, I will move on to using coconut milk to help with the excessive shedding. I did more research on what can stop the excessive shedding and to continue on my healthy hair journey, and I cam across a bunch of Indian women with nothing but long and healthy hair. And I thought, "of course!"

I did an article on the benefits of using coconut oil a few months ago and saw Indian women doing using coconut oil too. But it looks like coconut milk has great benefits as well!

What are the benefits of coconut milk?

Coconut milk contains vitamin E for awesome hair advantages and promotes hair growth. It makes the hair soft and supple, while healing scalp issues. Coconut milk reduces premature hair graying and is an awesome deep conditioner to add extra moisture to the hair shaft.

WHO WANTS THOSE BENEFITS??? I DO! I DO!!!
