Going Green With Green Tea For Natural Hair |
Let me just say that I absolutely love using green tea as my treatment for my excessive hair shed fall I have had since the end of December! I have tried garlic, black tea, protein treatments, and now I am using green tea...which I absolutely love!
What are the benefits?
- loaded with pathenol (humectant, emollient, glossifier, detangler and moisturizing agent)
- strengthen the hair strands and to mend split ends
- promote hair growth and reduces the amounts of hair shed
- high amount of antioxidants
- prevent common problems like dry scalp and dandruff
- smooth and shiny hair
Besides black tea, green tea was the other tea I had in my cabinet. I also enjoy a cup of green tea daily and did not know that this herb is great for the hair as well. So I decided to give this treatment a go!
Green tea treatment
I brewed 2 packets of green tea according to the directions. Then I allowed the green tea to steep overnight to strengthen the brew for my hair. After washing, I rinsed with cool, freshly brewed green tea. Leave it on for 10 minutes, then rinse it out with cool water.Do this each wash week.
My experience
I used the green tea treatment after my coconut milk pre poo and co-washing my hair with Trader Joe's Tea Tree Tingle Conditioner.Flipping my hair over in the bathroom sink and having a huge bowl to catch the green tea, I repeatedly poured the green tea over my hair for about 5 minutes. I also massaged my scalp during the tea rinse.
