Product Review: CURLS Creamy Curl Cleanser Sulfate-Free Shampoo

I do love using my Mud Wash, but I need a break from creating my own hair products. So this is the sulfate-free shampoo I will try for a few months...

Product Name:

CURLS Creamy Curl Cleanser Sulfate-Free Shampoo Product Review  (CURLS )*

Price and Size:

Product Description:

Sulfates (the drying detergents found in traditional shampoos that create lather) are extremely drying to the hair. This sulfate free cream cleanser will gently remove dirt and debris while nourishing your needy tresses. Great for chemically altered/color treated hair. No animal testing.

Package Instructions:

Gently massage creamy curl cleanser into your wet hair and scalp, rinse well.

Ingredients:

Water, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Stearic Acid, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Behetrimonium Methosulfate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Polyquaternium-7, Fragrance, Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate, Methylheptyl Isostearate, Certified Organic Carrot Seed Oil, Certified Organic Horse Chestnut Extract, Sage Extract, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Potassium Sorbatem, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol

Cocamidopropyl Betaine - gentle cleanser
Stearic Acid - conditions and lubricates with a velvet-like feel
Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate - mild cleanser and derived from coconuts
Behetrimonium Methosulfate - used to condition the hair
Cetearyl Alcohol - awesome conditioner, emollient, and thickener
Glycerin - awesome humectant (bring moisture to the hair)
Taurate - excellent cleansing ability and derived from coconut fatty acid

My Experience:

I detangled my hair with coconut oil and pre poo'd overnight with a plastic cap and satin scarf, for added heat. In the morning, I rinsed my hair with water and massaged my scalp to loosen any product buildup first. Then I added the CURLS to my scalp and massaged for about 5 minutes before adding any product to my hair. I rubbed CURLS along my hair very gently and ran warm water on my scalp and hair to rinse the product out. Then I moved on to deep condition my hair.

My Own Thoughts:

First of all, this product smells like vanilla cupcakes that just came out of my grandma's oven! It smells so good and that surely got me excited to use this product.

CURLS cleansed my scalp and hair very well without the stringy and squeaky clean feeling. My hair felt very moisturized and soft after rinsing the product out. This also did not lather, which I absolutely love! To me, this product feels like a co wash more than a shampoo. I absolutely don't mind that aspect. CURLS  got right to the point and did what it was supposed to do.

I will say that CURLS doesn't have the most amazing slip for a sulfate-free and creamy shampoo, but it did a great job overall.

I WOULD PURCHASE THIS AGAIN!

Have you tried CURLS? What did you think about it?

  1. I've seen this product at Target and was not sure about it. But you really broke it down! I'll have to check this out for myself. I love the creamy aspect of sulfate-free shampoos. Thanks for the review :>
