Doing Her Hair Series! | Crochet Senegalese MoHawk With Freetress Braid Senegalese Twists Small

Crochet Senegalese Twists MoHawk
This style will be perfect for my sister, Aletha. She loves edgy styles and this would really portray her personality.

So let's get this started!

Hair, Color, And Packs

My sister wants to try Senegalese twists, which I don't think I can sit for 8-10 hours of doing her hair. So I will do crochet braids with pretwisted hair. From the local beauty supply store, I decided to get:
Brand: FreeTress Braid
Color: 1b/33
Price: $5.99/pack (purchased 3 packs)

Prepping The Hair

It is very important to prep your hair for long-term styling effectively and the correct way. I started by sectioning her hair in 3 sections (left, right, and middle) The left and the right sides will be cornrowed (flat braided) horizontally to create the Mohawk look.

I braided the sides first, then created one big braid in the middle. Then I braided the top-middle in cornrows going back. After that, I started from the bottom and flat braided all the braided until I reached the for cornrows to create one big braid. I'd sewn the big braid down to secure it, especially since Aletha's hair is very thick. I used light-colored sew-in thread so I would know where it would be at when I take her hair out.

This process took about 2 hours.

Crochet Braids Process

Before I crocheted the Senegalese twists in, I boiled each of the packs to make sure that the twists are sleek and completely sealed. Once the hair was cooled and dry, I crocheted the twists into the middle of the cornrows. 3 packs was enough to create a full style.
