My Hair Diary | The Vixen Crochet Braids Are NOT For Me

How To: Crochet Braids (Vixen Method) ft. Afri Naptural Definition Braid | Aseamae Natural

Look at that, look at that!

I absolutely love the style Aseamae Natural did and it looked so easy to do. However, I thought that doing a vixen crochet set would take too much work, so I decided to try TeeDay's style by leaving the perimeter out and only the braiding the middle.

Afri-Naptural DEFINITION BRAID Review And Update | TEEDAY6

My hair is about shoulder length, so I purchase one pack of ISIS Afri-Naptrual Definition Braid for $10. I decided to cut the hair in half to give my own hair a full look. I gathered from both tutorials that 2 packs without cutting the hair in half give a full head of hair to APL. What I didn't gather is when you open the pack you find that the hair is already cut and not bent.

I DON'T KNOW HOW I MISSED THAT!!!

But I thought that it would be okay anyways and decided to cut the hair in half.
The hair is soooo soft and was so easy to crochet into my braids (with my perimeter out). When I was done, my hair looked so full and natural.
TWO DAYS LATER...my hair is in a bun. I'm done with this hair already.
  1. The hair is lovely, but it's way too hot for me. I absolutely cannot feel any air hit my scalp.
  2. My perimeter continues to be dry because I have to manipulate it to match the texture of the hair. I would opt to wear a sock bun (which I could have done with my own hair).
I took the hair out 5 days after I put it in. I do love the hair, but I may use this for braiding/twisting. As for the vixen crochet braids?

NEVER AGAIN!!

Natural hair says: you can watch all the YouTube tutorials and studying ever little detail on blogs and websites, but your style may or may not come out right. But don't be too hard on yourself if it doesn't. It takes trial and error to get that style that you want. You still want to put your hair away? Well, try-try again!
