Quarterly Natural Hair Advancement | Comparing June And September 2016

Image Credit: Thirsty Roots: 55 Amazing Black Hair Art Pictures and Paintings

*THIS IS A LONG ENTRY*

I decided to let you experience one of the things I do in my Hair Diary! Although I record my triumphs, failures, double failures, and awesome product reviews, I also do something called the "Quarterly Natural Hair Advancement (QNHA)." This entry reflects on the last 3 months comparing with the previous QNHA while giving a summary in one whole journal entry.

There are a lot of comparisons with lengths, regimens, goals, habits, and hair styles. I also include pictures to show that I have either improved or that I need to improve in a specific area. I started this back in June 2013 and I do the QNHA at the end of the months: March, June, September, and December. Yes, I am very intricate with my Hair Diary...but this helps me perfect my current regimen, helps me with future styling options, reminds me of my hair goals, and just fun to do!!

FEW CHANGES TO REGIMEN

Kimmaytube pH-Balanced Leave-In Conditioner
I have been learning about the importance of pH balance for the hair for a while now. From Kimmaytube, I have learned that one of her successes of retained length and achieving her goal of waist length hair is by consistently focusing on the pH Balance of the products she uses in her regimen. So I decided to use her Leave-In Conditioner. For the most part, I do love it! However, the KCKT is a luxury that I do not need for my hair. I will continue to use Aloe Vera Juice/Gel along with water (and essential oil) in a spray bottle for after washing my hair.

My Staple DIY Products
Although I love my DIY products, I have come to love just a few of them that I will continue. I know what works for my hair, so there is no need to continue to DIY products that I know I will not continue to use. For my DIY products, I will continue to use for daily purposes and styling: Mango-Cocoa Butter, Hair And Body Oil, Flaxseed Gel, and Aloe Vera Juice/Gel. I will continue to use for wash day (weekly/when needed): Green Tea, Rice Water Rice, and Henna Treatment.

GOALS MET FROM JUNE

Quarterly Natural Hair Advancement | March 2016 and June 2016, My short term goals for next 3 months: no comb challenge, co-wash hair weekly, rice water rinse weekly, shampoo once/month, do henna gloss treatment, finger detangle, weekly styles, and massage scalp with oil 4x/weekly.

Although I have continued to use my Denman Brush for styling, I have only used my fingers for detangling and doing pretty well in the No-Comb Challenge. Using rice water has really helped my hair to remain strong and healthy when using weekly.

I have not done my henna gloss treatment, so that means I need to make more time for that specific part of my regimen.

PERSONAL GOALS

My short term goals for next 3 months: henna gloss treatment, rice water rinse/weekly, trim hair when needed, use Aloe Vera Juice/Gel and Hair And Body Oil regularly.
-
My mid-term goals for December 2016: do more weekly protective styles, maintain the same regimen and products usage, try new styling options, have at least 3 YouTube Videos.
-
My yearly goals for December 2016: NO BUYING NEW PRODUCTS (no more product junkie!), short/long term protective styles (to retain length!), and reach BSL (with health comes length!).
-
My ultimate goal: to reach waist length and HUGE volume by December 2018!

Confessing My Own Thoughts | I Hate Wearing My Hair Down

Natural hair says: you may think this is intricate, complex, and just too much...but this keeps me on track for my hair goals and habits. Try it for yourself after your three month mark. You may really love this method! To start a simple entry in your hair diary, check out It Works - Keeping A Hair Diary. Check out an entry from my Hair Diary to get a few ideas to start your own.
