Hair challenges keep me on track to succeeding my goals, while learn more about my hair in order to keep her healthy. I've finally reached the end of my healthy hair challenge. 

Here are the results!



The Winter Hair Challenge and ClassyCurlies' 31 Days of Healthy Hair

The goal of this challenge is to continue to grow healthy hair and to retain the length grown over a 3 month period. I added the ClassyCurlies Challenge during the final month (March) of my Winter Hair Challenge

Pre-Set Theory

I am planning for longer, stronger, curly-defined, and healthy hair along with 1.5 inches in 3 months by going back to the basics of weekly:
  1. Pre Poo - use coffee oil overnight before washing/massage with JBCO 3-5 times/weekly
  2. Protein and DC treatments - use both weekly
  3. AVJ and Hair And Body Oil - weekly after washing
  4. Protective Styling - 5 days IN/2 days OUT (long-term if needed)
  5. Healthy Diet - strict diet of water, fruits/veggies, and exercise

Rules

I would receive one email per day with a healthy hair tip:
  1. Hairstyle to try
  2. New product to try
  3. General healthy hair tips

My Journey

January 1st to March 31st was the time frame for my 3 month challenge. However, the Classy Curlies challenge was March 1st to March 31st.

My regimen was based on focusing on the health and strength of my hair, by doing simple healthy hair practices.

Regimen and Products

Natural Hair Regimen
Massaging - (4xs/weekly) - JBCO and Coffee Oil (Wash Day)
Clarifying Shampoo - Suave Clarifying Poo
Moisturizing Shampoo - Carols Daughter Black Vanilla Moisture Sulfate-Free Shampoo
CoWash/Conditioner - Carols Daughter Black Vanilla Moisture Hydrating Conditioner 
DIY Oils - Hair And Body Oil
All Oils/Juices - JBCO, EVOO, Sweet Almond Oil, Coconut Oil, Lemongrass Essential, Peppermint Essential, Rosemary Essential, Lavender Essential, Aloe Vera Juice 


My Results:

December Hair Length: 0.5 inch from APL
March Hair Length: 3 inches from BSL


Total AVG. Length: 0.5 inch in 3 months
Length AVG Grown/Month: 0.2 inch/month 
I also learned some great new tips and lots of reminders to keep my hair healthy. My favorite tips included using honey in my healthy hair regimen. Either do a DIY with avocado or a commercial product (Shea Moisture Manuka Honey and Mafura Oil Hair Masque ) to keep my hair moisturized.

Natural hair says: There is no gimmick with this! Try doing a hair challenge for a certain time period and document your journey weekly. Make sure to keep weekly pictures as well. You will definitely notice a difference in your hair at the end of the challenge.
