Product Review: Mielle Organics Babassu Conditioning Shampoo

I purchased this product with the Mielle Organics Bundle in November 2017 to add to my products to use for the year 2018. It has almost been a year! Here are my thoughts:

Product Name:

Mielle Organics Babassu Conditioning Shampoo*

Price and Size:

Product Description:

Mielle Organics Babassu Conditioning Shampoo is for dry and curly hair types. This cowash contains gentle botanically derived surfactants and rich moisturizing agents to soften, moisturize and strengthen the hair. Babassu oil is derived from an amazonian palm fruit that is high sterols and tocopherols. A naturally derived surfactant from corn starch glucose which contains naturally fatty alcohol for moisture. A high foaming power which improves the conditioning of the shampoo, without stripping the hair leaving it soft and moisturized. Almond protein provides strength and elasticity. Hibiscus extract provides shine and manageability.

My Experience:

I  massaged the shampoo into my wet hair until full lather formed. I started cleansing my scalp, then allow the warm water to rinse the lather from my scalp, then down the strands of my hair.

My Thoughts:

Very Minty Smell
This product has a very rich and peppermint aroma! I absolutely love it. But if you are not a fan, then this would not be the product for you. This aroma can stay in your hair for a few days.
Great For Itchy Scalp And Dandruff
After I have a protective style longer than two weeks, my hair becomes really itchy and dandruff start to flake up. For example, I needed to cleanse my scalp after my crochet braids for a few weeks. It was definitely itchy! I loved how the peppermint just tingled my scalp and gave me a great wash as well. I may have had some product buildup or just a dry scalp. But this definitely helped a lot!
Very Good Clarifier
And I mean a really good clarifier! My hair definitely felt clean and my scalp felt so clear whenever using this shampoo. So I would not use this weekly, but whenever my scalp needed a good cleaning (at least twice a month).
Strips The Hair Of Moisture
With this shampoo being a great clarifier, it can strip the hair of moisture. Without the proper pre shampoo regimen, all product buildup plus your natural oils will be stripped away. This will leave you will very dry hair.
Can Be Drying Without Pre-Poo
Since this shampoo strips the hair of moisture, it can be drying to your hair. It would be best to use a pre poo like a conditioner or an oil before using this shampoo. Here are a few pre-shampoo practices I would do: Hair Tips | Pre-Poo Treatments For Natural Hair.
