Quarterly Natural Hair Advancement | Comparing December 2018 and March 2019

*THIS IS A LONG ENTRY*

I decided to let you experience one of the things I do in my Hair Diary! Although I record my triumphs, failures, double failures, and awesome product reviews, I also do something called the "Quarterly Natural Hair Advancement (QNHA)." This entry reflects on the last 3 months comparing with the previous QNHA while giving a summary in one whole journal entry.

There are a lot of comparisons with lengths, regimens, goals, habits, and hair styles. I also include pictures to show that I have either improved or that I need to improve in a specific area. I started this back in June 2013 and I do the QNHA at the end of the months: March, June, September, and December. Yes, I am very intricate with my Hair Diary...but this helps me perfect my current regimen, helps me with future styling options, reminds me of my hair goals, and just fun to do!!!

UPDATE TO REGIMEN

I noticed that my retained hair length has lessened from 1.5-2 inches to 0.5 and even breakage. I haven't had the best care for my hair since the beginning of the year, setting my 2019 goals. So I went back to my 2014 QNHA archives and found great tips I used to do, but haven't in a while. It's time to get back to extreme healthy hair practices! I will keep the same products, but change up my regimen:
  1. HOT OIL TREATMENT - With my Pre-Poo, I need to re-add my hot oil treatment strengthening my hair follicles, increase elasticity, restore moisture back to the hair, and better length retention.
  2. 5/2 PROTECTIVE STYLES - There are times when I can get lazy about my hair, but there are many styles I can do that won't take long and can last the entire week! 5/2 means 5 days of protective styling with 2 days of wearing my hair out.
  3. ALOE VERA JUICE WITH ESSENTIAL OILS - I need to re-add this as my leave-in during Wash Day, my detangler in between styles, and just a great refresher during the week. Aloe Vera juice is great for moisture, balances the pH levels, reduces dandruff, and activates hair growth!
  4. GET BACK TO PROTEIN TREATMENTS - Protein treatments have always strengthened my hair and balanced out the deep conditioning treatment I would do...but I haven't done protein treatments in a long time. I have used: green tea, coconut milk, all kinds of henna treatments, and others. So before I go straight to deep conditioning, I will do my protein treatment first.
  5. Vegan Meals For Fine, Natural Hair Growth
  6. CLEANSE WITH AFRICAN BLACK SOAP - A clean scalp is a healthy scalp! So back to the basics of making my own cleanser. African Black soap is great for regeneration of the skin cells, removes tough product build-up, and alleviates scalp irritation and dry skin.

GOALS MET FROM DECEMBER 2018

My short-term goals set in September 2018 for December 2018: massage 4/ weekly, 5/2 weekly protective styles, JBCO 3-5 times/weekly, retain 1.5 inch, henna treatment. I definitely massaged my scalp, especially my edges and I kept my hair in a protective style. The weather was CHILLY and BRISK!...BUT I only retained 0.5 inches, and I did not do a henna treatment.

Drawstring Puff
My yearly goal set in January 2018 for December 2018:maintain the same regimen and products usage, attend 3-6 natural hair meetups/events/shows, and reach BSL (stretched) I definitely maintain the same regimen and products of Mielle Organics, until I switched to Mane Choice in November 2018 and I reached Bra Strap Length! I did not go to any natural hair meetups/events/shows during 2018, so I need to make that happen for 2019.

GOALS SET FOR JUNE 2019

My short-term goals set in April 2019 for June 2019: New Regimen: Hot Oil Treatment, 5/2 Protective Styles, Aloe Vera Juice with Essential Oils, Protein Treatments, African Black Soap, retain 2 inches, BE A VEGAN!
-
My mid-term goals for July 2019: 3 henna treatments, have at least 1-3 YouTube Videos.
-
My yearly goal for December 2019maintain the same regimen and products usage of Mane Choice, attend 3 natural hair meetups/events/shows, and reach Mid-Back-Length (stretched).

-
My ultimate goal for December 2020to reach BUTT CRACK length and HUGE volume.
